I hope that you can view both pictures. The one showing a sword and hat belonged to our long past French hero Grand Master Jean Parisot de La’ Valette. The second is the Icon of Damascus at present kept within the walls of the Greek Catholic Church in Valletta. This icon was saved from the brutal ravaging hordes of Islamists who devastated Damascus – they defecated upon torn pages of the bible and murdered priests upon the altars.
Do note that La’ Valette prayed before this icon and whilst dropping his hat before her image vowed and requested her help at repelling the 50,000 Islamists who threatened the Maltese Islands.
She delivered her help.
And we ought to be proud of our Catholic heritage.
